In honor of all those kiddos who have battled cancer I have decided to shave my head. I have been able to surpass my goal of $2000 raised and hopefully we can raise even more then that!! Check out all the info at St. Baldricks, and my page as well. We are raising money in honor of Ella, who is one tough cookie currently fighting a form of brain cancer, DIPG. Childhood cancer research is incredibly underfunded so we are trying to raise awareness and donation to help any way we can. So be sure to check out more about Ella and all the good things St. Baldricks is doing to help those fighting cancer – check out St. Baldricks!

So last year around this time we were getting ready for some craziness in the delicious city of Charleston, SC. Brewvival is a super fun craft beer festival!! We drank ourselves silly, road around in an old bus, laughed our bums off, ate until we couldn’t eat any more, and loved every minute of it. This city has some of the yummiest treats you could ever imagine!! Diggity Doughnuts is to die for, Edmund’s Oast was yum yum, and Leon’s Oyster Shop was too delicious for words!! We highly suggest you go enjoy Brewvival this upcoming weekend! One of the best parts was that my hometown brewery, Fonta Flora, won for the tastiest beer in our group of friends. They had a beet saison that was k-razy!!!

We went to James Island and found this cool climbing wall. It was a first time for Matthew and me. But the best was watching our little friend, Lane, jet all the way up the 50 foot wall. What a little bad ass!!! If you are in Charleston you should swing by and check it out here.

When our friend asked us if we wanted to go to the middle of no where to watch him run 50 miles we of course said ‘sure!’ From before the sun came up to right before the sun went down Dave was running his way through the backwoods of Florida. It was a pretty full day for us just trying to keep up with him and meeting him along the way to resupply him with drinks, chews, food, gummies, and who knows what else he needed to complete the run. Running is a pretty amazing sport and your mind as well as your body have to be prepared for something so crazy as to run 50 miles. It was a blast going through all the old country roads. And I can only imagine the runner’s high you would get from completing such a crazy task. xo + congrats Dave!!!

So to continue our theme of The Big Lebowski we have some additional yummies!! Fries because what bowling game would be complete with our some greasy food. Sarsaparilla Floats in honor of the stranger who’s drink of choice is sarsaparilla. Nihilist Pancakes because if you believe in nothing and want to destroy everything then what better to destroy then some delicious over the top nutella covered pancakes! The Walter Custard because who wears yummy yellow sunglasses better then Walter!?! Now… enjoy!

Thanks to the mad styling skills of Liz Demos who helped our Lebowski shoot come together!!

Regular + Sweet Potato Fries!!

Wash + cut potatoes into even sized sticks.
Place cut potatoes into bowl, cover with water and let soak for for 10-20 minutes.
Preheat the over to 425.
Remove potatoes from water, and dry them thoroughly.
Toss potatoes in 1-2 teaspoons of your favorite oil (I use coconut!) and your favorite seasoning. I typically use a mixture of salt, cumin, and garlic.
Place potatoes in an even layer (not a crowded pan), and place in the over for 15-20 minutes.
Take the fries out, using a spatula, flip them and move them around a little in the pan.
Place back in oven for another 15-20 minutes or until they reach desired doneness.

The Stranger’s Sarsaparilla Float:

Place a couple scoops of your favorite vanilla ice cream in a glass.
Pour cold root beer (sarsaparilla) into glass (be careful! It will get foamy)
We topped ours with a little caramel!

Nihilist Nutella Pancakes:

When it comes to things like pancakes, you can’t go wrong with Martha Stewart! Recipe here or of course its always fine to use a mix.

Nutella sauce.
Heat 1/3 cup of milk – do not boil. Stir in 1/2 cup of Nutella. Keep stirring till it dissolves. To make it thinner, add milk, thicker, add more Nutella.
Pour into jar or other container for serving.

Oh and add one ounce of not caring about anything!

Walter’s Lemon Custard:

We prefer this no-bake version on Epicurious!

Add your own Walter face too with some sugar, to glasses for the eyes, and graham cracker crumbs for the beard!!

In the honor of The Dude (our pup) and Halloween we have a little Big Lebowski photo shoot for you this week. One of The Dude’s favorite drinks is a White Russian and it’s the perfect drink to fill you up this fall season! Be sure to keep your eyes tuned for more hilarious photo with the dogs later this week!!

Stay cozy with this classic White Russian:

1-1/2 ounces Vodka

1-1/2 ounces Kahlua

3 ounces heavy whipping cream or milk

How to:

Pour liquor over ice and make sure to add the cream last.

Now drink and enjoy!!!
